It’s nearing that hectic time in a teenager’s life when they’re about to enter into the all-important senior year of high school. I remember being pumped about finally being finished … Continue reading Seniors, it’s about that time…..

I was hanging out with some very close friends of mine, Nikki and Dave Jodat, about a month or so ago and got the mother-lode of awesome news dropped on me. Let me first begin with the backstory. Every Sunday, we have a get together that we have dubbed Triple D. Triple D stands for dinner, drinks and dominoes (I’m a domino addict and Nikki and Dave have picked up the game as well). About two months ago, one of the D’s was failing to make a Sunday appearance at what was supposed to be Triple D for Nikki. Dinner happened as planned, and we actually switch between dominoes and movies, so sometimes the third D stands for dramatic cinematics, which also happened as planned. There was, however, a lack of tasty alcoholic beverages. Of course, I was completely oblivious to this. About a month or so ago, I get a phone call from Nikki asking me to come over because they had some ideas for a potential photo shoot to run by me. Conveniently, they live right across the street from me so I headed on over. After a few minutes of catching up, Dave hands me a picture and says “We were thinking of something like this for the photo shoot…..”. I look a the picture and quickly realize that I’m looking at an ultrasound image. As I begin to connect the dots in my head, I look up with wide eyes and yell, “SHUT UP!!!!”. Nikki and Dave both start cracking up. Congrats were certainly in order as we excitedly chatted about the bun in the oven. They have been trying to get pregnant for a while now so I was, and still am, extremely happy for the both of them.
The thing is, the excitement didn’t end there. Turns out that another couple, Nikki’s cousin Corrine and Dave’s close friend, Dan are also expecting (they’re on little one #2). The kicker is, Nikki and Corinne have the EXACT same due date of December 2nd. With the excitement of all the buns in all the ovens around here, it was only fitting that they do a joint announcement. I was lucky enough to be able to shoot the pictures for that announcement. Dan and Corrine’s son Jason, who is absolutely adorable, made a couple of the shots way more fun than we anticipated. So, without further ado, I give you Nikki, Dave, Dan, and Corrine’s baby announcement pictures!
On May 21, I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of Chawna Schroeder and Brett Beaupre. The wedding was held in Door County, Wisconsin. The weather was pretty sketchy all weekend but the rain was nice enough to hold off during the important parts. The wedding ceremony was at Ellison Bay Bluff in Fish Creek and was absolutely beautiful. The reception was held inside of a barn located on the property where we stayed for the weekend. Sometimes, when you hear that a reception was held in a barn, that tends to draw a confused look, but believe me when I say that the vision that Chawna had for this reception was pulled off marvelously!!! I was not the official photographer for this event, but I did manage to grab some shots of the groomsmen receiving their gifts, the beautiful couple, and the barn after being set up for the reception. There was a pleasant surprise sitting behind the barn in the form of a 1952 Chevy pickup. I couldn’t help but grab a few shots of that as well!
You’ll notice a fish theme developing throughout the event. Brett is an avid musky fisherman. He enjoys it so much that he chose a weekend of musky fishing for his bachelor party. I was lucky enough to be able to attend even though the only thing I caught was a light case of sunburn. This couple was very fun to photograph as they are very photogenic so they could just be themselves in front of the camera. I would like to congratulate Chawna and Brett and wish them nothing but happiness as they begin this chapter of their life together.
